The adjustable steel prop — commonly known as an acrow prop — is the workhorse of formwork and shoring systems. It consists of an outer steel tube and an inner tube connected by a threaded spindle, allowing the working height to be set quickly and precisely. The wide welded steel base plate prevents sinking, while the top U-head plate or timber head distributes the load evenly, making the prop suitable for supporting concrete slabs, beams, columns and temporary structures.
As shown in our product photos, the props are available in a range of galvanized, red, yellow and blue painted finishes to suit site safety colour-coding or customer preference. Common outer tube diameters are 60 mm with wall thickness 2.5-2.8 mm, giving a robust, straight and torsion-resistant column.
At Shandong Stark Steel, our heavy duty props are manufactured from high-strength structural steel (Q235 / Q345 / Q355) with full welding of collars, base plates and U-heads. The hot-dip galvanized or painted finish ensures excellent rust resistance, long service life and dependable performance on demanding construction sites.
Adjustable steel props are widely used in building construction, slab and beam formwork support, bridge falsework, basement shoring, renovation and reinforcement projects, as well as temporary structural bracing. They are often combined with frame scaffolding, ringlock systems and timber/steel formwork panels to create complete shoring and access solutions for contractors and rental companies.
